William's Blog...with a smile!

And the season is over.

And Minnesota's Deer  Season, (firearm) is over.

At least for me.

I met my goal and harvested a mature Buck.

I don't consider it luck, at least not for me.

For the deer however it may have been

The deer was not in shape for the up coming winter.

Looking at the teeth, it is highly likely it would have starved to death.

The teeth were worn down to near nothing and with the wintercomming on

Chewing would have been hard.

Death for this majestic animal would have been cruel

But for me, among my eleation, I do have a sad spot in my heart.

This Monarch of the woods is gone after years of dodging danger.

And now he is gone leaving an empty spot for some youngster to take his place.

But on the flip side, he will provide many, many great low fat meals for my family.

It is not a waste by any means.

No photo's  in respect of those who don't care to view.

Any one wanting to see a photo of this Monarch, leave me a comment here and I will e-mail you one.

Also, After I have it mounted, I will share a picture then.

Good morning, William Feela it sounds like you did that Buck a favor....and you certainly gained a winter worth of meat....

It is amazing how much meat can come off of a deer.  I was once married to an avid hunter.  Between his hunting and fishing we saved a lot on groceries.  However, the cost of his firearms, ammo and hunting-fishing licenses kind of off-set it!
