How important is a school district???

I often here that buyers want to be in a certain school district.

I always ask what the reason is for their choice.

I am told many reasons...

Football program

Hockey program

other sports.

I almost never hear...Academics program.

Availability of college courses  while in high school.

Extra curricular studies  program like the debate team, or

other activities that will be a great learning or the future.

Sadly it seems that school is going the way of the general population in that SPORTS is the most important thing in life.

This thought is often the catalyst of a big heart break.

So, what is important to you...

A school with great academics or sports?

Good morning William. I always found that folks even those without kids were concerned about the schools. Mostly academic reasons though.

I'm happy to say, we do hear academics first. Camas school district is highly rated and that's why so many families love our little town.

Academics are the most important consideration in our area.

This just proves how diverse the buyers could be. Some can go for sports while others may highly consider the academics.

We hear "Academics" first.  In one of the communities, the schools are ranked so high, that people pay over $100,000 for a home, and pay additional taxes to be there, so that their kids get the best education.  A

Since most of my investors live out of state the question of school academics is a big one. This goes especially for the IT engineers from Facebook I deal with.

Hi William- When we lived in Houston, the school district and its academics were always high on a buyer's lists. And, even though Larry and I didn't have school aged children, we made sure that we bought houses in good school districts for resale.

School districts are always the most important priority for me, and not the sports part either.

Good morning William.  Thankfully we have 5 of the states highest ranked schools both in academics and sports within two counties that are back to back.

School districts are not only important to homeowners with children, but all homeowners in a community.  They affect property values.

Hello Willian Feela, I know schools programs are important to parents and it should be more about just sports I think.

I always hear they are interested in the academics.  Of course, we only have one high school in the entire county.

We purchased our first home based on the school.  At that time it was because of the teachers and academics.  My kids went to the same school I did.  My daughter has never left the district.  Athletics now play a huge role in our market. Parents are looking for that school campus that offers the best baseball, football or even cheer and gymnastics recognition.

UIL and SPORTS!  Parents are priming their children.  Drugs and gangs are found at just about every level and district.

It's best to teach and expect our children to do their very best - studies and sports.  I have buyers that will overlook a property that fits their criteria and buy something else because of sports.

It may be different in other parts of the country but I have never heard anything but academics be listed as a priority by parents. Again, maybe it's just my area.

Interesting, here it's academics first and foremost, then sports.

Academics is always most important. We have other options for sports through outside organizations (YMCA, AAU, Little League). The competency of the administration and who's running the show also plays a part.
