William's Blog...with a smile!

Are you sure your agent is competent?

Is your agent competent?

Did you go with the first agent you talked to when you saw their listing?

Did you ask friends and co-workers about this or any other agent?

Just because the agent is new does not make them in-competent.

Just because the agent is seasoned (In the business for many years) Does not make them competent.

Because the market is hot, I am over hearing many people talk about just buying a house and not real happy with the agent they had for a variety of reasons.

Most reasons were because of lack of follow up on the contract details and items not being followed through.

Buyers need to do more leg work on the agent they use for buying...Like many of the sellers do!

This is a great blog.  It is true, how long you have been in business does not make it so that you are competent.

Good morning again William. I like your cartoon: it says it all. You get what you pay and prepare for.

Good Afternoon William - a good place for clients to test competency is for them to real the knowledge given out on this site by AR members.  You make great points, is it luck, timing, or real talent.

Lack of follow up on contract details can be a real issue with transactions. Professional real estate agents, will work to meet contract requirements.

Many buyers just run into an agent and make a commitment. I agree they need to do more research.

I am always disappointed with the reasons why people choose their agents.

  1. The first guy to answer the phone
  2. A neighbor, friend, or relative.

None of which would inspire confidence for me.
