Every year it happens, people call 911.
Some hunter is having medical issues and is out in the woods.
Most of these are heart attacks.
Many of these people are older and out of shape. Even way over weight.
And it is the families of these hunters that suffer.
Do your loved ones a favor and yourself and get in shape for the kind of hunting you are doing.
If you can't walk a mile on level ground you will never walk uphill for a 1/2 mile.
And those that try to do the near impossible with their bodies are the ones that a 911 call will go out for.
Do yourself a favor and get into better shape. You will enjoy your hunt a lot more.
And if a friend gives you a new hat like this...they are NOT your friend!
Good morning William,
Sound advice for hunters.
Also learn CPR and do not look like a deer!
Make yourself an astonishing day.
Good advice! I have had to give it up because of bad legs and feet
I hunt a 100 yards from my house so conditioning is not an issue, but i know of two people where it cost them their lives
Wise words. Ive heard of hunters running on adrenaline, but their physical condition gets them in trouble.
So important. And it isn't just "are you physically capable of walking to and from, hiking, dragging an animal, etc.?". It's "how tired are you going to be when you are using a very very sharp knife on the taken game? Are you going to cut yourself because you're losing motor control? Are you going to stumble loading something into the truck?"
People tend to overestimate their conditioning and underestimate how easy it is to make a little mistake. Great post.
Good morning William. I don't hunt anymore, my past has been hunting squirrels. Can't clean them worth a fiddly however, I do like to eat them.
Great headware ! Hunting is not for the physically unfit !
Excellent advice William. Though, I must admit that my hunting is only in the refrigerator.
