William's Blog...with a smile!

The Weatherman said 'Get Ready".

WE have some snow coming.  How much, Well not as much as the east just had

But we are to get some wind and that is always a concern with heavy snow.

Branches and power lines snap with snow, ice, and wind.

So, I took a couple hours to make sure I am ready.

Fired up the generator and made sure it started ok.

Picked up extra 10 gallons of gas.

Made sure our propane tank was at a high enough level.

Filled 5-5 gallon buckets of water for washing and toilet flushing.

WE have great water so we filled up our camping jugs for drinking water and coffee.  (Enough for about a week).

Gased all the vehicles up and brought an extra 10 gallons for the plow truck, just in case.

Grocery store we picked up mild bread eggs and hamburger and some other not so necessity items. ( the store was not busy at all)

Chains are on the tractor

We did some other odd jobs that would have been harder with 6+ inches of snow.

So, now we are ready.  We don't have to rush or worry the store is out of what we call necessity.

Did we go over board, well not if it turned into a major storm, but who knows, the Halloween storm of '91 wa supposed to give us 3-4 inches and we got 18.

Let it snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife also pulled out those candles she got for Christmas.

William, you Minnesotans really know how to deal with snow.  An inch or two in DC closes the schools and often the federal government.  Lots of people who live here are totally clueless about how to handle driving and walking

Sounds like you are all set William Feela ....if I were that prepared I would also say ....LET IT SNOW and ...SNOW A LOT!

Have a great day!

It certainly is best to be prepared.  It sounds like you have everything covered.

Oh boy!  Please keep in your area and don't send to New England!  We had our share last year!  I could care less if I ever see a snow flake again!  Good luck!

William Feela - The stuff you bought is certainly not wasted. Good for you getting ready for the big one, just in case. Luckily no snow here. Knock on wood!

Better you getting it, than us in Northern VA.  The kids were out of school AGAIN today.  Mind you, the blizzard ended early Sunday morning..over a week ago.   I don't get how we deal so poorly with this stuff.

WOW William, that is a lot of work to prepare for a snowstorm.

No trips to Starbucks on Tuesday . . . . Le's hope the storm passes quickly leaving little snow behind.

Good luck and success.

Winter can be a great thing, when we are prepared, and we generally are.

William - Always best to be prepared, and it sounds like you have done a great job.

So glad we don't have to plan for snow days like that here.

Good morning William.  Thankfully we live only about a half of a mile from our nearest WalMart.  Easy walking should we get any bad weather.  Forecast is not calling for any...  Stay in and stay warm..

Much easier to be prepared than to wish you had been.   I was withough power for over 3 days one time.  Bought a generator and now I can keep everything under control even if it is on a limited basis

William, Good list of all the things you did in advance of the storm to prepare. That is a lot of work.

My wife's best friend lives just outside of Minneopolis and has been shooting us pics of the snowfall there all afternoon, William Feela.  Sure pretty to look at ... but a bugger to maneuver in.  Stay safe ...
