I got a call tonight and my seller asked how I was going to sell his property.
What do yo mean?
Well, a friend was on zillow and they say my property is worth $20,000 less than what you said it was.
I want you to take this off of zillow site!!!!!!
Well, I am sorry, but I have no control on this...The only way I can get it off of zillow is to take it off of the MLS.
Ok, then do that!
That is not the best solution...Now I have to have a heart to heart talk as to how I am going to deal with buyers who may have seen this.
And people ask me why I hate z!
William Feela, You and I both have a disdain for that site but we can't really fight it. The estimate for one of my properties is almost $19k over list price.
That is only sorta true...We need to educate the public, our clients and not do any business with them. And we need to do the same with all the other NON-Professional sites. Cann we do it alone...no, but until we try it only gets worse.
William Feela and this is just one reason! (I am sure others have many more reasons to do the same!)
Even if you take it off Zillow, the property and the Zestimate will still be there. Just not actively for sale.
It is sad we can't have more control...we used to have full control and people called us directly and we didn't even have to think of paying for or own leads.
You know who is to blame here William...all the agents who sign up to become "area experts" with Zillow. They are actually paying Zillow to steal from them (and every other Realtor).
William
Thanks for sharing your thoughts . . . . Just maybe the feeds are NOT HELPING to sell the listing.
Good luck and success.

I believe Zillow has caused more consternation for real estate professionals than most any other entity that comes to mind. Perhaps, something we need to put on our list to do when it comes to educating our sellers (and buyers), is the "reality" of Z estimates.
