William's Blog...with a smile!

Things to remember when looking at a 2nd home...

A second home is great.  A get away from the rat race of every day life.

But, it isn't all fun and games.

Remember this before buying...

There is regular maintenance to be done.

Grass to mow.

Leaves to rake.

Depending on the type of place you are thinking of there may be a dock to put in and take out and maintain.

It is going to be more work out of your weekends unless you have the extra money to hire it all out.

I am not trying to talk you out of a 2nd home...It is just I hate when you call me after a year or 2 and say it is to much to take care of.

William Feela no matter if it is your primary home or 2nd there is always maintenance. And as you state when buying the vacation or 2nd home know what you are getting into. Know the maintenance costs before hand it you can.

Great thoughts William. I hope people remember the responsibilities they are going to encounter.

some second homes are far away so people need to plan how and who is going to handle when things break

This has been a comment from my past clients...I didn't know it would be so much work.

If they are calling you to list it for them, that is GREAT news. It means they loved what you did for them.

William, so many people don't even think about the relaxing weekend retreat as a place where there will be yet another Honey-Do list!
