William's Blog...with a smile!

I feel like I am being SOLD out!

I got an E-mail today from our association...

"Great News!"

You can now have your listings automatically entered on Zillow!

My first thought was W T F!!!!!

I don't remember any discussion about doing this.

I just can not understand why this Profession feels the need to associate itself with non-Professional sites!

I keep working at making my brand a PROFESSIONAL one.  How can I be taken seriously when the associations keep branding us down instead of up!

Yes, there are stipulations about agents name and contact info and some other B. S.

I see it as them getting one foot in the door.

Give them a foot and they will take it over.

YES...I DID SEND MY COMMENTS TO THEM.But after a couple of hours, no response.

William Feela,  I agree with you, it is sad that your association is supporting Zillow!

It's happening all over. If the agents would stand together and demand that this doesn't happen, then maybe it wouldn't. But there are too many that will use ZTR, and others feel they have to compete, and sellers want to see their listing online, too. It's a double edged sword.

You have a choice to opt in . . . . if you want your listing to be linked to Zillow.

Good luck and success.

William Feela I'm amazed your association would not discuss it with it's members and take a vote.

In our system we have the option as to where it is syndicated but even with an it out, it can be scalped by Z and there is no control over that as the NAR will not police a thing

Nomatter what you are going to get sold out, that seems to be the nature of the beast these days, but at least with these concessions maybe consumers will find out who to call in the future rather than just who z sells the lead to.

Let us know if you do get a response from our association, I am sure they have a lot of mail to reply to after this.

Hi William.  They should give you the option to opt out of having your listings syndicate to Zillow.  It appears that this is what most associations I've encountered are doing.

William, we have List Hub, which does feed into many other sites, but our local MLS has not been feeding to Z & T for quite a while, since they will not sign an agreement to take listings down after they have sold.

Bill...Even being able to opt out, as a Profession we are legitimizing these sites and it does not look favorably on the Profession.
