Well, it was a great day yesterday to spend some time with an old friend.
We had not seen each other in a while and because I had an appointment not far from him, I called.
When his wife answered the phone and said he was not home I asked where did he go.
There was a moment of silence..."Bill, do you really need to ask?"
That was all I needed. After my appointment I drove to the frozen water near his home. I am still a bit chicken about the ice, so I walked out to his house about a quarter of a mile off shore.
We drowned a few minnows and a sorrow or two.
The two hour break was a good change of pace for both of us.
This is not his house but for those of you who live in the warmer climates...Yes, we do put houses on the ice.

Bill, this is all good and well...did you catch any fish?
I have been ice fishing here in WA - on Moses Lake, not many years we can do it. My husband is from MN hasn't been back for years. I rather fish when its warm :) or anytime in Alaska!
It's a short walk out, but a long walk back. Most folks just drive it on out there.
BUT, did you catch any fish?

Probably a good thing that you walked on the water. :) We are drowning cars daily in this neck of the woods.
Bill...
Be careful on that thin ice ... hopefully you'll get some cold weather yet this year and can do some ice fishing without worrying!
William, I always look forward to your ice fishing photos...to cold for me, but it sounds like the break you needed!
No fish were caught. I walked out because of the poor ice this year. Staying on the path most likely would havebeen fine, I am a bit gun shy this year.
Bill, it seams the lakes in the north are a bit safer, but I don't know how much I would trust them
I never knew that houses could be put on that ice I guess that is never a question growing up in south Florida! I would definitely be scared to go on it and building a house would never cross my mind! Thanks for sharing!

Bill, I believe I prefer the old fashioned way of fishing here in the south; from a boat!
